Thank-you notes that feel personal

Mention the person, the gesture and what it meant to you.

A useful thank-you note does not need an elaborate opening. Name the gift, the help or the moment you appreciated, then say why it mattered. If someone travelled, organised something or gave you their time, that deserves recognition even when there is no physical gift.

Keep a private list while the details are fresh, and mark notes as sent so that neither of you needs to hold the whole task in memory. Divide the list in a way that feels fair and use language that sounds like you.

If you are writing later than you hoped, a warm message now is still worthwhile. Avoid publishing gift values or a guest’s private message in a public recap.
